Why Use the Exempted Staff Feature?

The Exempt Staff options works with the contact home request feature. We have provided it because many schools want to use staff codes that do not actually belong to people but are assigned to special tasks.

Almost everyone uses the code offi to handle entries that are part of your discipline procedure but not citations from an indvidual staff member. offi is short for office and is most frequently used with students who are no-shows, they have failed to report to detention as they were assigned.

When entering infractions you enter:

Because this code is used so often, it may not be practical to have dozens of contact home requests printed each day. So we mark the code as exempt and it appears as offi* in your lists.

You can mark any staff code as exempt. Some schools use a code sub as a shared code for substitute teachers. Because these entries may come in from a collection of people it makes sense to mark this one as exempt.
